First plus-energy-renovation of a residential building in Austria.

With the restructuring of the residential complex “Johann Böhm Sanierung 34/36” in Kapfenberg, a multi-family house from the 1960s was converted for the first time in Austria into a plus energy building with a specially developed, prefabricated façade system. In addition, all apartments have been adapted to the latest standards of subsidized housing. An innovative restructuring concept was developed in an interdisciplinary team of experts and companies.

80% energy efficiency (reduction of energy demand)
80% share of renewable energy in total consumption
80% reduction of CO2 emissions

With the support of “House of the Future”, the ambitious goals could be realized and received awards: from klima:aktiv with gold certification – 943 out of 1000 points. Johann Böhm is considered the first plus energy renovation of a residential building in Austria.
