The new Pulp Center for Raw Materials (IZR) in Leoben is located in a central location opposite the Impulse Center for Materials (IZW). The building is used by the Montanuniversity Leoben and the Innofinanz as a research, laboratory and office building.
The clear building form with the representative façade corresponds to the city-planning but also cramped situation. The dazzling metal paneling signals technology and research. The window ribbons extend asymmetrically over the corners of the building, which gives the building a certain lightness.
For urban planning, the possibility of a passage from the Roseggerstraße to the public estate on the north side or to the BIG parking lot was created between the IZR and the library, on which the accesses are situated.
The main entrance to the Innovation Center is marked on the Roseggerstraße by a striking building block cut. Further access as well as the operational delivery and delivery via the goods lift took place in the north. The ground floor level is set at 1.43m over the terrain to provide sufficient exposure for the 1st basement. For the special requirement of the workstations for the MTS press, a superior light shaft is used as additional level-parallel open space.
