Urban block development between the river and the old town.

The new building on Andreas Hofer Platz is located on a special interface between the old town, Mur and subsequent Wilhelminian style housing. The multifunctional building comprises a hotel, a restaurant, shopping areas, apartments, offices and an underground car park.

The solitaire appears as a quiet block building with differentiated height graduation, whereby the building reacts to the different building heights of its environment. The monolithic overall picture is resolved by building incisions in the upper 6 storeys in single building body, which corresponds also to the hotel and residential use. The cuts in the block cast natural light down to the lower levels. At the street level, recesseses create squares and clearly defined entrance areas for the special uses of the hotel, shopping area and gastronomy. The body articulates the urban interface, it interacts with surrounding buildings and differentiates functionally. The entire ground floor, despite different users on trouble-free movements, so that the new building also opens to the citizens of the city. The perforated facade, with floor-to-ceiling windows spanning the highly differentiated block, creates a quiet urban development fulcrum.
